First formed in 1987, we are the Solihull Group of the Ramblers' Association. As part of the RA, we exist to facilitate local members’ activities in the promotion of walking and improvement of conditions for everyone in the area. We’ll help you to enjoy walking in the countryside whether to encounter it for the first time or to continue with the benefits of a few hours in walking, away from traffic and wherever possible, off roadside paths. Apart from encouraging walking as a healthy and balanced exercise, the Ramblers’ Association protects Rights-of-Way and defends the beauty and accessibility of the countryside. The Association is a democratic, voluntary organisation, registered as a charity (no. 10935777). The RA has a comprehensive web site, with details of nation-wide Group contacts and an expanding database of walks. Keen members of our local Group work as volunteers in the elected posts of Chairman, Secretary and other Committee members; those who take on organizational tasks like production of the walks programmes and distribution of RA literature. New active members are always welcome to pitch-in and offer the benefit of their experience or facilities. Joining: Anyone can join the RA to support the organisation, with a modest annual membership fee. Joining the RA entitles members to come along on led walks organised by any of the local groups. If you join the RA, the Area Secretary will be advised automatically, and will ensure you get a programme for the Group’s activities.
